Dead & Company shared that their auction in partnership with nonpartisan and nonprofit voter registration organization HeadCount raised over $650,000. The collection of auctioned items included drumheads, posters, guitars dedicated to specific cities and the tour as a whole featuring the artwork of AJ Masthay and signed by the band.

The funds garnered by the auctions are set to go to HeadCount’s continued efforts to increase participation in democracy, the environmental organization REVERB and a handful of other organizations selected by the members of Dead & Company.

The ocean turquoise D’Angelico Premier SS Guitar commemorating the tour and signed by the band initially held a bid of $74,000 after Bob Weir used it during a performance of “US Blues” at the Shoreline Amphitheater in Mountainview, Calif. Following its use in Chicago for “Ramble on Rose,” the bid grew to $250,000. Weir played it once more during Dead & Company’s closing run at Citi Field in New York and the bid shot up to $300,000, making it the highest bid on a HeadCount guitar since 2015’s Fare Thee Well concert series.

In other Dead & Company news, John Mayer recently posted a heartfelt reflection on Instagram reminiscing on the transcendent experience and profound beauty he has found in playing in the band. Read more about Mayer’s statement here.
