Last night, Dead & Company continued their summer tour at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass. The ensemble dug into two tunes before a 60-minute weather delay cut the first set early. As a result, they performed a monstrous 14-song second set and ended the night with a two-song encore, which included Bob Dylan’s seminal number, “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” 

The night got underway with “Cumberland Blues” and “Bertha” before severe weather warnings resulted in an hour-long delay. As thunderstorms moved into the region, fans were asked to shelter in place on the main concourse and follow staff instructions. Around 8 p.m. ET, the stadium sent out a tweet alerting fans the band would take the stage once as the storm subsided.

Then, the music resumed with The Young Rascals’ classic turned Grateful Dead staple “Good Lovin’” followed by an illustrious take on “Crazy Fingers.” “Mr. Charlie” arrived before the band moved into an epic segueing of “St. Stephen” into “William Tell Bridge” and “The Eleven,” with Bobby Weir leading vocals on the monumental tracks. 

John Mayer guided the band through a stellar take on “Brown-Eyed Women” before they launched into a groove-laden “Estimated Prophet.” “Eyes of the World” preluded “Drums” and “Space.” Unfortunately, last night’s show did not include the Grateful Dead’s original drummer Bill Kreutzmann, who has sat out a handful of sets along the summer tour. Instead, Weir’s Wolf Bros bandmate, Jay Lane, offered a backbeat alongside Mickey Hart. 

“Dear Mr. Fantasy” arrived after “Space” and segued into The Beatles’ seminal number, “Hey Jude.” Then, for the last tune of the main set, the ensemble landed on “Morning Dew” as a heavenly send-off into the night’s encores, which began with a take on Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door.” Dead & Company performed “More More Saturday Night” in pure weekend fashion to cap their night in Foxborough, Mass. 

After last night’s show, Dead & Company will continue their summer tour on Tuesday, July 5, when they perform at Xfinity Theatre in Hartford, Conn. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here.
