After a two-night run at Credit One Stadium in Charleston, S.C., on June 3 and 4, Dave Matthews Band headed a bit further south for the first of two nights at Daily’s Place Amphitheater in Jacksonville, Fla., last night. The performance was flushed with fan favorites and a rare “Too Much” set closer.
The 20-song single set performance got underway with 1994’s “Warehouse,” followed by a number from Come Tomorrow, “Come On Come On.” Then, Matthews led the band through “Squirm” before blasting into fan-favorite, “Grace Is Gone.” The sweet ditty “The Maker” was played next, ahead of the band’s high energy take on a crowd-rousing “Don’t Drink The Water.”
The first “You Never Know” of 2022 was performed before the ensemble treated the crowd to 2001’s “When the World Ends.” Next, “Break Free” came before “Grey Street” and “Walk Around the Moon.” Then, “Dancing Nancies” was toyed with ahead of a “Kill the Preacher” tease, which segued into “Why I Am.”
“The Song Jane Likes” was performed before “What Would You Say.” Then, the band laid down the feeling on “Gravedigger” after Carter Beauford took a drum solo to kick off the tune. “Jimi Thing” was played next with an “I Want to Take You Higher” interpolation, followed by “So Much to Say” into “Anyone Seen the Bridge.”
The main set was capped with a rare “Too Much” finisher; the tune had not been played as a set closer since July 17, 2015, when Dave Matthews Band performed at Klipsch Music Center in Noblesville, Ind. Then, to kick off the encore section of the concert, Matthews took the stage alone to deliver a solo rendition of “Something to Tell My Baby” before the entire band rejoined their frontman for the lively concert finisher, “Cornbread.”
Dave Matthews Band will conclude their Daily’s Place Amphitheater run tonight. Ticket’s for the Jacksonville, Fla. concert are still available and can be purchased here. Following tonight’s gig, the band will pick things up at Blossom Music Center in Cuyahoga Falls, Ohio, on June 10.
