A day following his SXSW keynote address, Beck took to the stage at ACL Live at The Moody Theater for an acoustic concert. He was joined by pedal steel guitarist Jesse Ebaugh, whom he had met the night before after Ebaugh’s performance with Weyes Blood.

Beck opened his show with “The Golden Age,” followed by a cover of The Korgis’ “Everybody’s Got to Learn Sometime.” Next came his 1994 song “Rowboat” and then a song from two decades later, 2014’s “Say Goodbye.” Beck then busted out “Canceled Check,” which he hasn’t played live since 2005. After playing “Guess I’m Doing Fine,” Beck performed his debut cover of Hank Williams’ “I Heard That Lonesome Whistle Blow.” Beck continued to dance through his discography before arriving at another debut cover–Chris Bell’s “I Am the Cosmos.”

Beck continued his set with the classic “Bottle of Blues” from 1998’s Mutations and the more recent reverberating “Heart Is a Drum,” which was released in 2014. Next came the live debut of his new song “40 Mermaids” he noted that the debut was only a preview as he couldn’t remember all the lyrics. He also busted out “Fume” for the first time since 2022 and “Dead Melodies” for the first time since 2014. He closed the set with 2014’s “Country Down.”

For the first of his two encores, Beck performed fan-favorite “Debra” before moving into “One Foot In The Grave.” He returned to the stage for his second encore for the deeply touching and hopeful “True Love Will Find You In The End.”
