Pigeons Playing Ping Pong continued their Perspective Tour over the weekend at The UC Theatre Taube Family Music Hall in Berkeley, Calif. The ensemble were joined by ALO’s Dan Lebowitz, who resides in the college town, for two songs during the first half of the show.

Saturday night’s performance began with “In The Bubble,” which featured an ambitious drum solo before dropping into a segued paring of “Melting Light” and “Off Shoot.” The unit followed up with “Hit the Ground Runnin’” and “Pop Off.”

During the latter part of the first set, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong were joined by ALO’s Dan Lebowitz on guitar for a take on “Poseidon” off the 2018 LP, Pizazz. Next up, the band performed their live debut of “The Town” before Lebowitz returned for a bust-out cover of Talking Head’s “This Must Be the Place (Naive Melody),” last performed on June 11, 2020.

The second half of the show got underway with a segued selection of tunes, including “Indiglo,” “Schwanthem,” and “Funk in Funk,” which included an explorative and improvised jam. Next, the band played “Burning Up My Time” into “Skinner,” before breaking into “Couldn’t We All” and a cover of NSYNC’s “Bye Bye Bye.”

The second set came to a close with a take on The Weeknd’s “Blinding Lights” and a reprise of “Couldn’t We All.” Pigeons Playing Ping Pong performed “Feelin’ Fine” as their encore, including another adventurous jam.

Next up, the band will perform at The Crystal Bay Club Casino Crown Room in Crystal Bay, Nev., before making their way North for a performance at Midtown Ballroom in Bend, Ore., on March 17. Tickets are still available and can be purchased here
