The estate of legendary photographer Jim Marshall has announced the upcoming release of never-before-seen Jerry Garcia digital animation photo-sequences and digital images in the form of NFTs that will head to auction on Dec. 13.

Total Digital Group has partnered with the photographer’s estate with plans to share 14 iconic Jerry Garcia digital NFT images and an NFT digital animation sequence from a photo session taken of Jerry Garcia at the Grateful Dead’s Headquarters on Front Street in San Rafael, Calif., in 1978. The only image from the photoshoot shared thus far was on the infamous triple vinyl bootleg album cover, The Grateful Dead Farewell To Winterland.

Images will be sold individually and brought to the podium one at a time with a build-up to the 14th and final item, an NFT of the original album cover art. The estate will also include a vinyl copy of The Grateful Dead Farewell To Winterland from Jim Marshall’s personal collection.

In a press release shared today, curator and proprietor of Jim Marshall’s archive and photography, Amelia Davis, commented, “We are releasing a piece of music history captured by a legendary photographer that will never be reproduced in any other digital format. While all 14 NFTs are iconic, the 14th and final NFT to drop will be a jewel in the crown for any music collector and especially for the true ‘Dead Head’ aficionado.”
