After filling in their slot on the Hulaween lineup, Umphrey’s McGee were sure to give a nod to Joe Russo’s Almost Dead on Thursday, Oct. 28, playing a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “Althea” late in their first set.

“In typical 2021 fashion, our good friends Joe Russo’s Almost Dead will be unable to perform next week at Suwannee Hulaween, so we’re stepping up to lend a hand to bring y’all a two-set rock show to close out night one of the festival on 10/28,” Umphrey’s McGee wrote last week.

The two set outing began with UM original “Similar Skin” and the aforementioned “Althea” cover arrived in the midst of a “Utopian Fir” jam.

In keeping with the weekend’s spooky vibe, set two also included a tease of John Carpenter’s Halloween theme within “Conduit.”
