Gov’t Mule has returned to the stage for their The Kicking In Your Stall Tour. The group opened the summer run on Wednesday, July 22 with a sold-out show at Tree House Brewing Company in South Deerfield, MA. That two-set performance included the Mule’s first version of ZZ Top’s “Jesus Just Left Chicago” since 1/20/25. The band then moved on to Hammondsport, NY and another full house on Friday.

On Saturday, the Mule delivered a headlining performance at the Great South Bay Music Festival. The quartet opened with “Bad Little Doggie,” followed by snarling takes on “Lay Your Burden Down” and “Slackjaw Jezebel.” From here, the group played “Game Face” which led into a roaring version of the Allman Brothers Band’s “Mountain Jam” and then back into “Game Face.” Bruce Hornsby & The Noisemakers had performed just prior to Gov’t Mule and following “Beautifully Broken,” Hornsby joined on vocals & Wurlitzer, while Noisemaker John Mailander appeared on fiddle for a moving version of the Garcia-Hunter song “Loser.” This interpretation last 10 minutes with ample soloing all around. The Mule then closed their set with fan favorites “Funny Little Tragedy,” “Thorazine Shuffle,” “Mule” and “Soulshine.”

Gov’t Mule will next appear at the Freeman Arts Pavilion in Selbyville, DE on Tuesday, while Hornsby & The Noisemakers will perform at the Ocean City Music Pier in Ocean City, NJ this evening.
