Phish closed their two-night San Francisco run on Sunday, Oct. 17.

After a night one that consisted of a crazy bustout (“Frankie Says,” last played 8/8/15) and a massive encore (“Carini,” 19-minutes), the band kept the momentum moving on Sunday, opening with 90s-era fan favorite “Bug.”

[Ed Note: Local authorities confirmed Monday afternoon that a man died after falling off a balcony during Phish’s first set. An additional pair of fans were also injured following a separate, second fall a little before 10 p.m. PT. “Medics arrived and immediately provided medical treatment, but despite the efforts of the emergency responders the victim succumbed to his injuries and was declared deceased,” an SFPD spokesperson said of the fatality onsite. This story is still developing. When/if Phish makes a statement, it will be added here.]

Phish’s first half was anchored by a mid-set “Destiny Unbound” and closed with the pandemic-era “I Never Needed You Like This Before.”

However, the quartet really hit their stride after setbreak, as they filled their second frame with just four songs (and lots of jamming).

“Evolve” (off Trey Anastasio’s 2020 Lonely Trip release) started things off, and the band continued on with a rocking “Set Your Soul Free.”

“Wingsuit” then bled into “Chalk Dust Torture” – the latter contained musical remnants of “Wingsuit” as well.

For their encore, Page McConnell stepped out from behind his keyboards and led his kitschy number “Lawn Boy.”

The show ended with a proper “Wolfman’s Brother.”

Phish’s fall tour will continue on Oct. 19-20 in Eugene, Ore.
