On Saturday, Sept. 11, Brandi Carlile performed her first of two gigs at Morrison, Colo.’s famed Red Rocks Amphitheater, jamming alongside the Colorado Symphony as well as special guest Celisse.

(Also known by her full name – Celisse Henderson – music fans may recognize Celisse from her stint in Trey Anastasio’s Ghosts of the Forest band, her ongoing collaborations with Carlile’s supergroup The Highwomen, as well as her own guitar heroics.)

At Red Rocks, Celisse joined Carlile for the rollicking Bear Creek cut “Raise Hell” as well as The Highwomen’s titular track, “Highwomen.”

Reflecting on the experience, Celisse wrote via IG, “There aren’t really words to express how I feel about what happened last night. It was my first time @redrocksco and I still can’t believe I was in the space that has given us some of the most important and iconic performances of all time… Thank you @brandicarlile for the gift of not only your friendship and wisdom, but for the endless generosity that comes in opening the door for someone like me to stand on a stage like that and feel what is possible. It feels so incredibly good to be seen.”

Carlile replied to the message, writing, “Woke up, read this and cried. @celissemusic you belong on this and every sacred stage in America.”
