Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off their Fireside Live Tour close to home at Jacksonville FL’s Daily’s Place on Friday night. Inspired by Derek Trucks and Susan Tedeschi’s recent Fireside Live streams, the tour will make stops at more intimate venues, boasting a scaled down version of the normally 12-person TTB. Friday’s performance, which opened with a take on “Statesboro Blues,” featured the band’s namesakes as well as singer Mike Mattison, drummer Tyler Greenwell, bassist Brandon Boone and keyboardist Gabe Dixon.

In addition to a selection of stripped-down originals and TTB covers, Friday’s performance also boasted the ensemble’s first take on two selections from Tedeschi’s solo catalog that have been shelved for years: “Just Won’t Burn” and her Trucks/Kofi Burbridge co-write “The Feeling Music Brings.” Tedeschi has not performed either tune live since 2009 and has not performed either tune with her TTB bandmates since that band’s precursor The Derek Trucks & Susan Tedeschi Soul Stew Revival, which toured in 2007 and 2008.

TTB continued to mine Tedeschi’s solo catalog when they returned to Daily’s Place last night. During their second set, the six-person version of Tedeschi Trucks Band busted out “Looking for Answers,” a track from Tedeschi’s 1998 LP, Just Won’t Burn. The singer has never performed the tune with TTB and has not performed it live since 2009.

TTB’s Fireside Live Tour will continue at Brandon, MS’s Brandon Amphitheater on June 18.
