Starting July 23, fans will have a chance to relive The Brothers’ epic 50-year celebration of The Allman Brothers with an online and physical release of their 2020 Madison Square Garden Show.
As many recall, the one-night-only performance took place on the cusp of the COVID-19 pandemic, on March 10, 2020. It featured an all-star roster of Warren Haynes, Derek Trucks, Chuck Leavell, Jaimoe, Marc Quinones, Oteil Burbridge, Duane Trucks and Reese Wynans.
As Haynes told American Songwriter, “It was a very surreal night I think for all of us. It would have been under normal circumstances. But as we got closer and closer to show date, we were all wondering if we’re going to be allowed to play. We barely got in under the wire and then the next couple of days, they basically started shutting down everything and cancelling shows everywhere. It’s very bizarre that we turned out to be the last big show like that, and very strange in hindsight that we were probably all exposed much more than we realized.”
According to a press release, “A portion of the proceeds of the live show benefitted The Big House in Macon, GA which was the band’s home from 1970-1973 and now serves as their official museum.”
Additionally, the show “will be available physically (4 CDs, 3 DVDs, 2 Blu-Rays) and the audio will be available digitally. The video will be available for streaming on Nugs and CODA, Amazon Prime’s streaming service.”

May 31, 2021 at 6:13 pmI believe Dickey was asked to join “The Brothers” for the show but declined. I’m a long time Dickey Betts fan, he was always my guy and when he got the boot I never went to see the ABB, less Dickey, it just didn’t work for me. I did go see Gregg Allman and Friends and always went to see Dickey and Great Southern whenever they played NYC or surrounding area. That being said i attended The Brothers show at MSG, 3-10-2020. “The last great show before the apocalypse” as someone put it. It was a great show and I’m so glad I was able to attend. There were times when the hair on my arms stood straight up, it was a beautiful night and seeing original member, Reese Wynans and almost original member(1972), Chuck Leavell only added to the special night. Check out the DVD or CD
and see for yourself. KLBazur

May 31, 2021 at 5:36 pmIn the 1990s, Dickey beat up his wife and threatened his bandmates. Anyone who has seen Dickey live in the past 2 decades knows that he simply cannot keep up with the other members of that band. He is a rock legend who wrote some of the greatest songs ever, but sometimes age and bad habits keep a person from performing at peak level. (This is also why Robert Plant does not want to deal with Jimmy Page.)

May 31, 2021 at 12:37 pmDickey Betts pushed HIMSELF out the band evidently he was a super drunk that couldn’t remember the songs. Spit out his pubes before you spew that crap

May 30, 2021 at 12:06 amAlso when Dickie was pushed out ,i really really doubt that Duane would have approved. They claimed it was because of his drug use and temper. Bulshit they wanted his money which is why they had been prepping Derek since he was a young teenager and bringing him out on stage. Never really cared for them bringing him out on stage when he was 14, the polite thing is wow watch this kid play, where I was like why do they have to kill the flow of the show? any bulshit about negative energy from dickey is a lie. If someone needed to be kicked out it should have been Butch trucks as proved by the way he ended up, no problem having that mentally ill person around, since his nephew would mean more money for the remaining original three.

May 31, 2021 at 10:42 pmAbsolute horse poop. The 2nd best version of the Allman Brothers Band was with Derek & Warren. Betts couldn’t keep it together and he was canned. Sad, but it happens. He refused to stop playing at ear-beeding volume. I hated it, but he had to go. Derek is an amazing guitar talent and was a perfect replacement to handle the Duane parts. End of story.

May 29, 2021 at 11:57 pmAbsolute f****** disgrace to have pushed out dickey Betts founding member and really the only reason I ever went to see him and playing his songs. Derek trucks has always been a suck-up tool. Jaimoe can suck it and Gregg Allman always required a crew to babysit him at all times. Again a complete f****** disgrace. Once they eliminated dickey Betts it was not the Allman Brothers. dicky and Duane were best friends and although not blood Brothers, the way they played guitar together was a magical Bond.

June 1, 2021 at 12:40 pmTom, your original post reads like Q-Anon garbage. Lots of ifs and maybes in there that you have no first hand knowledge of. The mighty ABB rocked from 1969-2014.
