Jason Isbell by Billy Kelly // Sturgill Simpson by Dean Budnick

Jason Isbell and Sturgill Simpson will appear alongside the likes of Leonardo DiCaprio, Robert DeNiro and Jesse Plemons in Martin Scorsese’s latest endeavor Killers of the Flower Moon.

The film is based off of David Grann’s bestselling book of the same name, which – according to Deadline – is set in 1920s Oklahoma: “Killers of the Flower Moon depicts the serial murder of members of the oil-wealthy Osage Nation, a string of brutal crimes that came to be known as the Reign of Terror.”

Isbell is tapped to play the character of Bill Smith, while Simpson will play “infamous rodeo champion and bootlegger” Henry Grammer.

“When I say I am EXCITED,” Isbell gushed as he shared the news via Twitter on April 6.

The film has yet to have an official release date.
