Tonight, Oct. 30, the Grateful Dead will return with a Halloween edition of their ‘Shakedown Stream’ broadcast series, aptly renamed ‘Shakedown Scream.’ The broadcast will feature Dead Ahead, the Grateful Dead’s 1981 concert film. The film showcases the Dead’s two-night 1980 Halloween run (Oct. 30 and Oct. 31) from Radio City Music Hall in New York City.

Prior to the airing of Dead Ahead, David Lemieux and Gary Lambert will return to to host the live pre-show. This edition’s guests will be guitarist/singer-songwriter Rich Mahan and journalist Jesse Jarnow (who serves a Contributing Editor for Relix Magazine). Past editions of ‘Shakedown Stream’ have seen the Dead broadcast their Sunshine Daydream concert film, pro-shot video from shows in the late 80s and early 90s and even footage from their Apr. 21, 1972 performance for Beat Club TV in Bremen, West Germany. Past guests on the pre-show have included Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, Oteil Burbridge, John Mayer, David Crosby and more.
