Ani DiFranco has had enough, as evidenced by her new music video for “Do Or Die.”
Offering lyrics for the 2020 era – such as “if you think you’re vote doesn’t matter, you’re not paying attention” – DiFranco rallies with her New Orleans community, shaving her head, making protest signs and throwing her support behind The Breathe Act.
She even enlists local troupes like the New Orleans Dance Collective and Dancing Grounds to further her messaging.
“Do or Die” comes off DiFranco’s yet-to-be-titled album on Righteous Babe Records.

October 4, 2020 at 8:34 pmbeautiful song – funky, smart, not at all preachy. Sweet Groove from a fine artist with a LONG history of writing and performance excellence. She’s been on the peace and justice train since she was about, oh, twelve. Does she belong on Jam Bands? Maybe ask Ivan Neville, they have jammed often. And check out Ani’s autobiography – really cool stuff.
