Alongside the band’s new music video for Lowell George favorite “Long Distance Love,” drummer Tony Leone has announced that he is the newest member of the Little Feat live band,
“Thrilled to have been aa part of this recording and video,” the former Chris Robinson Brotherhood/Phil Lesh & Friends drummer said via Facebook. “And even more thrilled to announce that I’m joining forces with some of my favorite people and musicians on the planet, as well as one of my all time favorite bands. Long Live Little Feat!!! Time to put on our Sailin’ Shoes, kick 2020 outta the way and get on with the BOOGIE in 2021!”
In late 2019, Little Feat lost founding member Paul Barrere and – like most groups – they’ve spent 2020 off the road to prevent the spread of COVID-19.

March 13, 2021 at 8:31 pmI have to agree. Saw the “classic” line-up in ’73 at the 2001 Club in Pittsburgh. Bonnie and Freebo opened. Saw them again in ’77 in an 600 seat theater. Amazing shows never to be equalled. Saw the Craig Fuller version. Sounded great but. Saw them with Shaun Murphy after Fuller split. Also great but. Took my teenage kids to see the Gabe version in another small theatre. Bad house sound. No energy. Left after four songs. I was so bummed for the kids. On the way home I cranked up Waiting for Columbus.

September 18, 2020 at 4:36 amI have come to accept change is inevitable. Lowell is gone, Richie, and Paul. While neither of them can be replaced others can step up. I welcome Tony, may he carry the torch high and proud. I have been lucky enough to see the “classic” line up with Lowell and over 20 shows since they reformed with Craig and Fred, and then Shawn Murphy, and then without Shawn and with Gabe. Little Feat has evolved and I look forward to more music. Let us not forget Bill Payne, Kenny and Sam and Fred are and have always been a BIG part of Little Feat.

September 18, 2020 at 2:27 amI’ve been a Feat fan since 1974. They along with Steely Dan and The Band, have created the most magical musical moments of my entire life. I hope the new members blend and contribute to writing new material. It remains to be seen if the current line up is capable of writing new songs of similar quality to Little Feat standards. Failure to do so, will render them to being no more than a Feat cover band, reworking old material.
…. McCartney and Ringo, could never replace John and George in any capacity.

September 17, 2020 at 8:34 pmI never thought they could replace Lowell, but with Craig Fuller and Fred Tackett they pulled it off and added Shawn and that worked. I know that Gabe payed his dues and they felt obligated to give him a shot, after Richie passed, but Richie was such a one-off drummer that I never felt Gabe fit the shoes or should I say Feat. Sorry Gabe….no disrespect intended. I had tickets to see them on the 50th tour and by our show Paul couldn`t be a part of it, and two weeks later, he was with Lowell and Richie. I really couldn`t imagine another lineup that would work after Paul was also gone. As much as I like Larry and Teresa doin` their own thing or with The Levon Helm group, they just couldn`t help give us a good 50th show without Paul……especially when the rest of the band was anticipating the inevitable. After hearing Scott`s voice in a similar fashion as Lowell and feeling a bit more confident in Tony`s drumming I see a future for Little Feat and am happy and sad all at the same time. Feats Don`t Fail Me Now ! Scott gave Gregg Allman props when he needed it, I hope he can do the same for Feat. Never got to meet Lowell, but did see him with Feat in 1978 with Kaz Fuller opening. Saw the band in the first tour after regrouping after Lowell. Loved talking with Richie, Paul and Fred after shows in the later years. Got their stuff all over my stereo room…… picks, pics, autographed shirt, autographed vinyl……you get the picture. I WANT to see this line-up. Yep, Paul wasn`t in the first line-up, but he was another one-off player and person like Lowell and Richie. I have great memories of them since I first discovered them in the mid 70s !!! I spin them up quite often and they never lose importance in my musical adventures. I still really miss Richie and his great drumming and quirky voice. Long live Billy, the last of the first.

September 17, 2020 at 3:30 pmPaul Barrere was NOT a “founding member” of Little Feat. The original lineup in 1969 was Lowell George, Bill Payne, Richie Hayward, and Roy Estrada. That first band released the first album, “Little Feat” (or sometimes referred to as “Strawberry Flats”) in 1971 and “Sailing Shoe” in 1972. Barrere, Kenny Gradney and Sam Clayton joined after Estrada left, and first recorded together for the “Dixie Chicken” album in 1973.
