After surprising fans and rejoining the ranks of the Red Hot Chili Peppers last year, guitarist John Frusciante will drop a his 11th solo album Maya on Oct. 23.
Frusciante’s most recent solo project was 2014’s Enclosure, which flew under his Trickfinger moniker. However, according to the guitarist, Maya will be released under his government name. It is also inspired – in part – by his late pet cat.
“Maya was with me as I made music for 15 years, so I wanted to name it after her,” he said in an official statement. “She loved music, and with such a personal title, it didn’t seem right to call myself Trickfinger, somehow, so it’s by John Frusciante.”
Pre-order Maya via Bandcamp here.
