After a one-off show in Cape Cod, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong continued their drive-in run this past weekend with a two-night stand at the Finger Lakes Drive-In in Auburn, NY.

Each evening was marked by a debut cover – Saturday, Aug. 15 offered Will Smith’s “Men in Black” within a heavy second set “Offshoot” jam, whereas Sunday, Aug. 16 saw Savage Garden’s “I Want You” sandwiched between “Undivided” and “Moonwalk.”

A Saturday nod to The Beatles (“Funk E Zekiel”> “Drive My Car”> “Why Don’t We Do It In The Road”> “Drive My Car”> “Funk E Zekiel”) as well as a “Yo Soy Fiesta” encore got the rowdy, yet socially distanced, crowd excited for round two, and PPPP surely delivered.

Sunday saw the band both acknowledge the titans of cinema with Star Wars‘ “Imperial March” on the tail end of a “Somethin’ For Ya”> “Too Long segment, and also celebrate their own songbook with a nice show-closing “Indiglo”> “FU” jam.

“Big thanks to everyone who made our first drive-in shows so much fun,” PPPP wrote afterwards.

The quartet will close their drive-in run on Aug. 21 in Philadelphia.
