Pigeons Playing Ping Pong swooped into Cape Cod’s Yarmouth Drive-in on Thursday night, offering their first in-person performance since March 11, 2020.

The band nodded to their socially-distant cinema setting by opening with the “20th Century Fox Theme” and then

Later, PPPP accented a set-closing “Avalanche” with a nice segue in and out of Jimi Hendrix favorite “Crosstown Traffic.” The quartet debuted the ’60s cut on 12/31/19 during their “Electric Kool-Aid Asheville Test” New Years gig; this performance, however, acted as a snide reference to the cars peppered through the audience.

Set two kicked off with high-energy cut “Live It Up.” The band was also sure to offer a mid-set version of the uplifting fan favorite “Horizon.”

PPPP’s Pleasure cut “Fade Fast” also saw a debut of the Knight Rider theme within it, acting as the evening’s lone debut, and the group later encored with a birthday shout-out to drummer Alex “Gator” Petropulous and one last salute to the movies with “Zydeko”> “Somewhere Over The Rainbow”> “Zydeko.”

“Thanks for staying safe and bringing such great energy!” the band wrote afterwards.
