For the second of their two livestreamed shows that were performed in lieu of the canceled Miracle Mile drive-in event, moe. debuted a couple of new songs from their new record This Is Not, We Are, as well as a cover of the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway”, perhaps in honor of Jerry Garcia’s birthday. The show occurred on Garcia’s birthday (Aug. 1) at the Big Blue North Recording Studio in Utica, N.Y.

The show began with “Buster” from moe.’s classic 1996 LP No Doy. Next, they performed a pairing of “Downward Facing Dog” > “Deep This Time”, before debuted “Undertone” from their new album. The song was written by guitarist Chuck Garvey. After a performance of “Letter Home”, the band delivered another debut from This Is Not, We Are: “Skitchin Buffalo” (and it’s reprise), which was written by bassist Rob Derhak.

The second set opened with a stream of five songs that transitioned into each other, beginning with “George” and ending with “Bullet.” During this section, the band performed “Crushing” and “LL3”, both tracks from This Is Not, We Are. The set then closed with a pairing of “Don’t Wanna Be” and the fan-favorite “Timmy Tucker.”

Before the encore, guitarist Al Schnier said a few word, encouraging fans to support their favorite bands, venues and restaurants “now more than ever.” The band then dropped into their first ever performance of the Grateful Dead’s “West L.A. Fadeaway.” Keeping in the theme of coastal cities, the show closed with a rendition of “New York City.”
