Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal have announced a special Gala Concert for the Musician Treatment Foundation, set to stage at the National Concert Hall in Dublin, Ireland on June 13. Supporting the launch of the renowned musician-oriented nonprofit organization in Ireland, the legendary duo will perform alongside an impressive bill of supporting acts–including Grammy-winning folk singer-songwriter Aoife O’Donovan, who will be joined by a surprise guest star teased as “a treasured Irish artist.” Proceeds from this high-profile engagement will go to further the MTF’s mission of providing free specialized orthopedic care to musicians around the world, giving back to the performers who give themselves over to their fans and art.

Established in the United States in 2017, the Musician Treatment Foundation has burgeoned into a vital lifeline for professional musicians and the standard-bearer in discourse regarding medical care tailored to musicians. Under the guidance of highly regarded orthopedic surgeon Dr. Alton Barron, the Musician Treatment Foundation has assisted hundreds of injured artists with upper limb orthopedic care, providing support valued at over $2.7 million. On the organization’s expanded area of operations, Dr. Barron has shared, “MTF is fortunate to be able to help many injured musicians in their hometowns and while they are on tour across the United States. Now we look forward to helping musicians who live or are on tour in Ireland.”

“We are grateful for this benefit concert in the magical city of Dublin thanks to Rosanne Cash and John Leventhal, two of the most talented and generous musicians you will ever meet,” Dr. Barron notes on the Gala Concert. “Musicians are sacred treasures for all cultures and peoples. This international collaboration of American, Irish-American, and Irish musicians reflects and reinforces the beauty, richness, and hope of our countries and cultures.”

Echoing this sentiment and underscoring the urgency and value of MTF’s mission, Cash and Leventhal have offered, “Musicians are uniquely vulnerable to hand and arm injuries, impairments, pain, and chronic conditions: problems in the very parts of the body we need most to perform and create music. Dr. Alton Barron and other experienced orthopedic surgeons provide invaluable career- and soul-saving care that makes it possible to play, and to live our potential as musicians. We owe them, and the Musicians Treatment Foundation, an enormous debt.”
