Grateful Dead HQ served up their weekly Shakedown Stream on Friday night, spotlighting the band’s 7/2/89 gig at Sullivan Stadium in Foxborough, Mass.
Highlights from the ’89 performance include a “Hey Jude” late in the second set, complete with a “Dear Mr. Fantasy” tease from keyboardist Brent Mydland.
Before the broadcast, GD legacy manager David Lemieux and SiriusXM Tales From The Golden Road host Gary Lambert served up a pre-show interview with the one and only Bob Weir.
And while the stream was free, the band encourages fans to donate to the MusiCares® COVID-19 Relief Fund. Click here to donate.

May 12, 2020 at 2:48 pmI flew in from KC to see that show, very good eve! Los Lobos opened, before show was GD Guitarists w several Los Lobos members doing “This Land is Your Land” acoustic for PBS (video shoot after soundcheck). Crowd could only HEAR it, not see it…. Way cool though! The GD show was unique with a 2nd Set song/opener in Playing; then 2nd Set opened with what was typically a 1st Set song in Friend, way unique! Loved it…. D of KC

May 10, 2020 at 4:49 pmJust watched most of the show and it sounded pretty good. Jerry looked unusually animated and the drummers, for the most part, are in sync. ’89 was definitely a good year. I saw some good shows up through ’93. After that, there were great moments but overall, the band was kind of unraveling before our eyes. Still, I got my money’s worth!

May 10, 2020 at 3:53 pmThought the pre show chat was somewhat of a let down. Wasn’t expecting life changing banter. Thought some of the questions could have been tossed for others – a few good questions.
I whould have asked about any future
D & C shows after this passes and safety is prioritized. It is all for a good cause and I enjoy the fact they do it.
Nice re-living the show!! Stay safe!
