Radiohead guitarist Ed O’Brien will release his first solo album under the EOB moniker on April 17.

The LP – dubbed Earth – will feature nine new tracks, including the previously released lead single “Santa Maria” as well as the new “Shangri-La” which O’Brien just shared with the general public.

Guests on the album include, “O’Brien’s Radiohead bandmate Colin Greenwood, Portishead guitarist Adrian Utley, Wilco drummer Glenn Kotche, drum legend Omar Hakim, masterful bass player Nathan East, Laura Marling, David Okumu of The Invisible, Adam ‘Cecil‘ Bartlett, Richie Kennedy, Marcelo S. Silva, Flood and Catherine Marks.”

In regards to studio projects, Radiohead have been largely inactive since they released A Moon Shaped Pool back in 2016, although the new EOB release adds to the ever-expanding catalog of Radiohead side projects. In June, frontman Thom Yorke released his solo album ANIMA to widespread critical acclaim, and in 2018 provided the soundtrack for Luca Guadagnino’s remake of Suspiria. Radiohead guitarist Jonny Greenwood has also become an in-demand composer for various Hollywood pictures, most recently scoring Paul Thomas Anderson’s Phantom Thread in 2017.

Collectively, the band also launched their Radiohead Public Library in January, offering “a highly curated and organized archive of the band’s catalogue and corresponding visuals and various artifacts associated with each album.”
