Minetta and Evans at Iron Wax Studios

Brooklyn-based jazz-funk collective Minetta will drop their debut LP Automatone on Feb. 16, and it was produced by none other than Alan Evans of Soulive.

“Like the rest of the band, I’ve been a huge Soulive fan for as long as I can remember,” says guitarist Matt Russo. “Some of my best live music experiences have been at Soulive shows – particularly Bowlive. Those guys have profoundly influenced me as a musician so, naturally, we were pumped, and a little nervous, to work with Alan on this record. However, Al made us feel completely at home and comfortable at his Iron Wax studio. We’re extremely grateful to him for taking the time to fully understand and help realize our vision for this music.”

Minetta features Russo and Andrew Livoti on guitars, as well as keyboardist Eric Lemberg, bassist Francis Gillespie, drummer Kenny Hildebrandt and the brass section of Thomas Abercrombie (trumpet), Anthony Ferrara (tenor sax) and Will Nannery (trombone).

The first single from Automatone is set to drop on Dec. 23.

Minetta will also perform a special New Year’s Eve gig at The Bitter End in NYC.
