Tedeschi Trucks Band returned to New York’s Beacon Theatre on Friday evening for the penultimate night of their six-show run at the iconic venue, and the group continued their collaborations with a Sly & The Family Stone-themed encore with guest guitarist Adam Minkoff and keyboardist DeShawn “D’Vibes” Alexander, and also offered an acoustic middle section.

Last night’s performance was a two-set affair, kicking off with an initial frame featuring some rarer tunes like opener “All That I Need.” TTB dedicated the mid-set tune “Life Is Crazy” to late drummer Yonrico Scott, who played with Derek Trucks in his namesake band and passed away last month. The first set also included a cover of The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Darlin’ Be Home Soon” and a rendition of Little Milton’s “More and More” to close.

Set two opened with a five-song acoustic session that kicked off with “Strengthen What Remains” and then kept the covers coming with the blues classic “Keep Your Lamp Trimmed and Burning” and Derek and the Dominos’ “I Am Yours.” The set also included Dr. John’s “I Walk On Guilded Splinters” (with a coda of “Amazing Grace”), another Derek and the Dominos cut,”Keep On Growing,” Bobby Bland’s “I Pity the Fool” and the set-closing “I Want More.”

For last night’s encore, which featured their medley of Sly & The Family Stone’s “Sing A Simple Song” and “I Want To Take You Higher,” TTB welcomed out former Marcus King Band keyboardist Alexander—who also sat in during the band’s Wednesday Beacon show—and Minkoff, who has collaborated with the band in the past and has played with Dweezil Zappa and friend of TTB Doyle Bramhall II.
