On Saturday night, Gov’t Mule welcomed blues guitarist Danny Draher onstage for a Duke Ellington cover, marking his first appearance with Warren Haynes and company since the band’s “Mule Year’s Eve” run at the Beacon Theatre.

Gov’t Mule opened their sold-out show at the Connecticut’s Garde Arts Center with Blind Willie Johnson’s “Dark Was The Night, Cold Was The Ground,” and even tossed in the Allman Brothers’ “Come And GO Blues,” before closing the half with their own “Stone Cold Rage.”

Set two was highlighted by a “Game Face”> “Mountain Jam”> “Game Face” segment, followed by a “Trane”> “St. Stephen” jam.

Later, Draher added his guitar to Duke Ellington’s “Things Ain’t What They Used To Be,” which is the same tune he played with the band during his aforementioned Dec. 29 sit-in at the Beacon.

Gov’t Mule closed their Saturday night show with “Mr. Man,” and encored with “Bring On The Music.”
