For the second night of Gov’t Mule’s “Mule Year’s Eve” run, the band welcomed special guests Danny Draher, Oz Noy, Jimmy Vivino and Paul Ill at New York City’s Beacon Theatre.

Led by Warren Haynes, the band opened with Shout! cut “World Boss” and later dug into a lengthy “Leave Your Light On”> “Mr. High & Mighty” segment. The following take on “Mr. Man” contained teases of the band’s namesake “Mule.”

The first guest of the night came at the tail end of set one, as Haynes and company welcomed guitarist Danny Draher to the stage for a cover of Duke Ellington’s “Things Ain’t What They Used To Be.” The first set drew to a close with “Funny Little Tragedy,” complete with elements of “The Bed’s Too Big Without You,” “Runnin’ Down A Dream” and “Message In A Bottle.”

Set two kicked off with “Larger Than Life,” and more guests arrived in due time, with Oz Noy sitting in on “Red Baron,” and a group of dancers amplifying the set-closing “Thorazine Shuffle.”

Gov’t Mule closed the show with Jimmy Vivino and Paul Ill jumping onstage for a take on Derek & The Dominos “Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad.”
