Wilco will once again host their own Solid Sound Festival in Massachusetts in late June, and the band has announced they are adding a live-band karaoke session to the three day gathering, featuring Wilco themselves.
“Ever wish karaoke bars had more Wilco? Do they have any? I don’t really know,” frontman Jeff Tweedy says in a press release. “But I do know that they don’t have enough songs about existential dread and self-loathing. Sound fun? Please join us onstage so we can get Solid Sound 2019 started with some outsourced belters from the Wilco songbook. Let’s do this!”
Fans can enter to win the chance to sing with Wilco onstage at Solid Sound, with 5-10 individuals ultimately getting the rare opportunity. Those interested should send a video of them performing their song of choice on Instagram or YouTube with the hashtag #WilcoKaraoke. Winners will be notified June 10. Fans chosen will also win a three-day pass to Solid Sound, along with a rehearsal with the band before the performance on the Friday of the festival.
Solid Sound returns to MASS MoCA in North Adams, MA, June 28–30 with music from Wilco, Courtney Barnett, The Feelies, Tortoise, Cate Le Bon, Jeff Twedy & Friends, Julien Lage Trio and more. All festival information can be found here.

May 30, 2019 at 12:11 pmThis is a part of their Friday set, so that is not an accurate statement. Garbage idea on the bands part catering Friday night around 5-10 people who won their tickets rather than around the few thousand that helped to sell this event out and are traveling because they wanted to see Wilco, not a few youtube singers.

May 29, 2019 at 11:28 amHere’s how this is going to go down. There will be 3-5 excellent submissions and these folks will do a great job. The problem is the other 20-30 minutes of absolute torture that Wilco will have to endure AND submit their fans to hearing. I suspect Tweedy will regret this decision.
