State Radio have confirmed their first run of shows in well over a decade. The politically charged rock trio, which is led by Dispatch co-founder and activist Chadwick Stokes, regrouped for the first time in years this fall, playing a short set at Columbia, MD’s Merriweather Post Pavilion on October 3.

In early 2027, State Radio will hit the road for the Us Against the Crown Tour, which will focus on major markets. As its title suggests, the tour will be centered around the group’s 2006 full-length debut, Us Against the Crown. According to a statement from the band,  “The timing of State Radio’s return feels anything but accidental. Songs written about war, corruption, inequality, and the responsibility to speak up have found renewed resonance in the current moment. Rather than looking backward, State Radio’s return feels like a continuation of the conversation the band started from the beginning.”

Stokes put what would become State Radio together during Dispatch’s final days and initial hiatus around the turn of the Millennium. The multi-instrumentalist focused on the group through 2013, but has since shifted his attention back to Dispatch.

More recently, he also created and developed 1972: A Rock Opera, “a new musical set before Roe v. Wade about a young woman searching for a safe abortion and the unlikely community she encounters along the way.” 1972 will receive its world premiere at Cambridge, MA’s American Repertory Theater this fall, running from October 27 through November 22.
