Vampire Weekend finally released their much-anticipated fourth studio album, Father of the Bride, this past Friday (and played a pop-up acoustic show in New York’s Washington Square Park), and the band celebrated on Sunday with a three-set performance at NYC’s recently reopened Webster Hall that began in the morning and stretched over seven hours. The show included a full play-through of the record, multiple special guests, covers and more, plus free food for the fans in attendance.

As Brooklyn Vegan reports, the daylong performance began around 11 a.m. with an appropriate cover of the Velvet Underground’s “Sunday Morning” and featured camera operators from Amazon Studios filming throughout the event, hinting at a possible future concert-film release. The kickoff set also included covers of Bruce Springsteen’s “I’m Going Down,” Fleetwood Mac’s “Everywhere,” Paul Simon’s “Late in the Evening” and Bob Dylan’s “Jokerman,” along with tracks from Vampire Weekend’s first three albums like “Obvious Bicycle,” “M79,” “Diplomat’s Son” and “The Kids Don’t Stand a Chance.”

Next up was a full performance of Father of the Bride, opening with “Hold You Now” featuring vocalist Danielle Haim, who also appears on several tunes on the studio album. Haim would return three songs later for “This Life” (accompanied by her two sisters and bandmates in HAIM), and then for “Married in a Gold Rush,” “We Belong Together” and “Stranger,” three of the many live debuts during the album’s set.

Set three marked the longest of the frames and featured a number of Vampire Weekend favorites as the band played through most of their four-album catalog throughout the day. Kicking off with “Walcott,” the third installment of the unique gathering also included runs of “Mansard Roof,” “Holiday,” “Cape Cod Kwassa Kwassa,” “Horchata,” “Hannah Hunt,” “Diane Young,” “Cousins,” “A-Punk,” “Oxford Comma” and “I Think Ur a Contra,” plus the live debut of “Jonathan Low” (which appeared on the soundtrack for the 2010 film Twilight: Eclipse), a cover of SBTRKT’s “New Dorp. New York” (VW frontman Ezra Koenig guests on the studio version of the track) and even a cut from bassist Chris Baio’s solo catalog, “Sister of Pearl,” with Baio taking lead vocals.

The 56-song marathon wrapped up with a three-song encore, kicking off with a cover of Thin Lizzy’s “The Boys Are Back in Town” featuring Haim (the song also played over the speakers in the morning before the band began their performance) and continuing with their own “Worship You” before a grand finale of “Ya Hey” featuring another special guest, Blood Orange’s Dev Hynes.
