The Funk Sessions, a collaborative monthly concert series usually held at Cervantes’ Other Side in Denver, will move to New Orleans this month for a show at The Maison featuring members of Turkuaz, The Motet and NOLA’s own Dumpstaphunk, among others.

Turkuaz drummer Michelangelo Carubba will once again host the evening of music, which will include appearances from the Turkuaz horn section of Josh Schwartz, Greg Sanderson and Chris Brouwers, plus Dumpstaphunk bassist Tony Hall, Motet guitarist Ryan Jalbert and his bandmate and vocalist Lyle Divinsky, RAQ keyboardist Todd Stoops and Thievery Corporation’s Jeff Franca. Special guest The Iceman Special will open up the night.

The New Orleans Funk Session is set for The Maison on April 30, during the days between the two weekends of Jazz Fest. Tickets are available here.
