On Saturday night – in the midst of a jam-heavy set two – Umphrey’s McGee collaborated with Snarky Puppy/Ghost-Note percussionist Nate Werth for a one-off jam and pleased fans with a rare take on Jamiroquai’s “Virtual Insanity.”
The show kicked off with a nice “Plunger”> “Walletsworth” segment, followed by a stand-alone “Half Delayed.” From there, UM offered a pairing of “Night Nurse” and “White Man’s Moccasins” as well as “Blue Echo”> “No Diablo,” before closing the first half with a rocking “Wizard Burial Ground.”
Umphrey’s McGee got heady for set two, playing just five songs. The band started with fan favorite “Mantis,” before welcoming Werth – who opened the show with his Ghost-Note band – for the It’s Not Us cut “Looks.”
UM kept the good vibes coming with their second-ever performance of “Virtual Insanity,” marking the first time fans heard the song since the band’s 2018-2019 New Year’s run in Atlanta. The second set closed out with a three-part jam on “1348”> “Out of Order”> “Ringo,” which came full circle in the encore when “1348” emerged once again at the end of “Triangle Tear.”
