Bruce Springsteen will play the final scheduled installment of his successful Broadway show in New York next weekend on December 15 (the same day as the release of his Netflix special chronicling the show), and rumors of The Boss getting back on tour with his E Street Band have been making the rounds, but Springsteen has now released a statement saying that he and his longtime group will not be playing any shows in 2019.

“Just a note to quell some of the rumors over here on E Street. While we hope to be back with you soon, the E Street Band won’t be touring in 2019,” the note on Springsteen’s website and social media begins. “Before I go back to my day job, the year will be consumed with a break after our Broadway run and various recording projects I’ve been working on.”

Springsteen also shouted out his bandmates, who have their own ongoing musical offerings: “We do hope to see you soon, and until then, we have some mighty E Streeters out there regularly performing with their own projects who’d love and deserve your support. All love and Happy Holidays!”
