moe. celebrated Halloween early this year, taking their Philadelphia fans out for “A Night At The Arcade,” and debuting themes from classic video games like Tetris, Frogger, Super Mario Bros. and Sonic the Hedgehog.

The show immediately had a tech vibe from the opening “Nebraska” which featured each member of the band playing little keyboards. “Annihilation Control” followed as did the intro of “Spine of a Dog” which bled into the band’s first version of The Who’s “Pinball Wizard” since 9/20/06.

The jam continued into “Mexico” and an alternate version of “Tijuana Donkey Show” that had lyrics switched to “Tijuana Donkey Kong Show” to fit into the arcade theme. From there, moe. jumped back into their “Mexico” jam for a brief spell before offering the aforementioned Tetris theme. An alternate version of “Wicked Awesome” followed, as did “Jazz Wank.” A Frogger theme jam closed the first half, sandwiching the band’s original “Buster.”

The second set was brimming with video game nostalgia as well, opening with a Mario-influenced “Mar-DeMa” which bled into the Mario Bros. “Underworld” theme as well as the Sonic The Hedgehog theme. The jam continued through an alternate “Hi & Lo” (dubbed “Hi & Lo Score”) and “Zed Naught Z” (reimagined as “Zelda Naught Z”).

“Time Ed” included theme from Burger Time, and the band’s final set two jam featured a debut of Peter Gabriel’s “Games Without Frontiers” and moe.’s own “Rebubula” containing elements of the classic video game Galaga.

The tiny keyboards were brought out again for moe.’s encore as they played an 8-bit version of “Don’t Fuck with Flo,” and closed with a full-band debut of Led Zeppelin’s “No Quarter”
