Tedeschi Trucks Band kicked off their six-show run at the Beacon Theatre in New York on Friday night, offering a two-set, “Evening With” performance that saw the group welcome a couple of old friends in guitarists Jimmy Herring and Doyle Bramhall II.

TTB opened up set one with a live debut, playing Jimmy Cliff’s “Sitting in Limbo” for the first time. The set also included staples like “Do I Look Worried” and “Anyhow,” along with TTB’s covers of Sleepy John Estes’ blues standard “Leaving Trunk” and Rahsaan Roland Kirk’s “Volunteered Slavery.”

Set two kicked off with another cover, Derek and the Dominos’ “Tell the Truth,” and ended with a two-song run of Allman Brothers Band classics that featured Herring as a special guest on stage. The Widespread Panic guitarist helped out on  “Blue Sky” and “In Memory of Elizabeth Reed.” Herring played with ABB for a short stint in 2000, sharing the stage with Derek Trucks on a summer tour. (The two guitarists also collaborated in the supergroup Frogwings, and Herring currently plays in Panic with drummer Duane Trucks, who is both Herring’s son-in-law and Derek’s younger brother.)

Last night’s encore rounded out night one of the Beacon run with a two-song offering featuring Bramhall, a frequent TTB collaborator. First up was a cover of Bob Dylan’s “Going, Going, Gone,” a song that appears on Bramhall’s new album Shades (TTB also guest on the studio track)—which came out earlier on Friday—followed by the Derek Trucks Band’s “Get What You Deserve.”

See the full setlist below, along with some fan-shot video from the night. Tedeschi Trucks Band return to the Beacon stage tonight for round two of six.
