As reported earlier this week, founding Allman Brothers Band guitarist Dickey Betts was set to undergo brain surgery today to relieve swelling due to a fall-related head injury the musician suffered at his Florida home on Monday, and now Betts’ manager David Spero reports that today’s surgery was a success.
“Hey Dickey fans, your thoughts and prayers helped make this surgery a success,” Spero announced via the Sarasota Herald-Tribune, adding, “More details later!”
The 74-year-old Betts was reportedly in “critical but stable condition” after the Monday incident, in which he fell in his Sarasota backyard, hitting his head and causing bleeding around his brain. Betts was subsequently forced to cancel his upcoming November tour dates in Georgia, Florida and New Hampshire.
