Cubensis first started interpreting the music of the Grateful Dead back in 1987. Indeed, as the story goes, Guitarist Craig Marshall met Jerry Garcia not too long afterwards and told him that Cubensis played Grateful Dead music, to which Garcia responded, “Oh yeah? So do we!!” This weekend Cubensis will continue to perform the music of the Dead but will expand the palette as well. Over the past few years Cubensis also has presented albums from other groups (Bob Marley, Yes and Pink Floyd have been among those acts) and will do so again this year. Cubensis will perform this “mystery album” on Saturday at The Mint Los Angeles (with Quactus opening the night) and then on Sunday at Marlin Bar in Huntington Beach.
