Earlier today we reported that the Warren Haynes Band will make an appearance at this year’s Christmas Jam. This group has the makings of something special if one considers who joins Haynes on his forthcoming solo album. In an interview that now appears on Relix.com, Haynes talks about the new release. This recording, which he produced along with Gordie Johnson, features appearances by George Porter Jr. on bass, Ivan Neville on keys and Neville’s Dumpstaphunk bandmate Raymond Weber on drums, a second keyboard player in Ian McLagan (The Faces), as well as vocalist Ruthie Foster and Ron Holloway on sax. In the article, Haynes describes the formation and development of the new album, explaining, “This is a record I’ve waited my whole life to make because soul music was my first love. Before I ever heard rock and roll music, I was listening to soul music. Before I picked up a guitar, I was singing—and everything I was singing was soul music.”
