New Orleans legend Allen Toussaint is currently in the midst of a residency at New Yorks Village Vanguard. The singer is performing in support of his new album, The Bright Mississippi, with an all-star band that includes Don Byron, Christian Scott, Marc Ribot, David Piltch and Jay Bellerose. As first reported by The New York Times, this past Tuesday Toussaint also brought out Elvis Costello for Ascension Day, a song from their 2006 collaboration, The River in Reverse. The two men will also likely collaborate at Bonnaroo this summer. Allen Toussaints residency will continue through Sunday.
