The Protect Communities Fund came together in 2006 to fight a 150 mile long electric line that would cut through San Diego County’s Anza Borrego Desert State Park. While the organization continues to push against the Sunrise Powerlink Project, it also has focused on establishing an energy future that will be ‘economical, reliable, environmentally non-invasive and wean us off foreign fossil fuels.’ Last year the POC hosted a fundraising concert in Ranchita, CA to support the cause. Ranchita Rocks returns in 2008 on a 150 acre ranch overlooking the Park, with four stages of music featuring Yonder Mountain String Band, Bassnectar, Mountain, Cubensis Interstate Blues and many other bands. The benefit event will take place from September 12-14 with tickets now on sale.
