The 28th Annual Claremont Folk Festival will take place at the Sycamore School in Claremont, CA on May 3. The event will benefit the Dorothy and Charles Chase Folk Music and Culture Education Fund, ‘a nonprofit education and arts organization dedicated to the advancement, promotion and preservation of traditional, contemporary, and international folk music, instruments and folk culture.’ The Chases, who founded Claremont’s Folk Music Center in 1958, also are grandparents to Ben Harper, whose mother Ellen Chase-Verdries now manages the Center. The line-up for this year’s Claremont Folk Festival includes Harper, Jackson Browne, Taj Mahal, Da Lion, The BladeRunners, Yuval Ron, Joel Rafael and Squeakin Wheels. The festival also will offer a range of workshops, a childrens stage, a dance stage and courtyard stage, with the full details at the Claremont Folk Festival website.
