With the race towards the 2008 Presidential election heating up, a number of site favorites are making their opinions known. Ben Harper, for one, supports Illinois senator Barack Obama and played a benefit on his behalf last week at New Yorks Hammerstein Ballroom. Harper played a brief acoustic set which consisted of With My Own Two Hands, Gather ‘Round The Stone, There Will Be A Light and Better Way. The gig was part of a busy promotional blitz that found the guitarist appearing on both Sirius and XM radio, playing for GQ Magazine as part of New Yorks Live From Abbey Road (at the Daryl Roth Theatre), on Ugo.com and as part of National Geographic Live. Harpers next gig is an appearance at Lollapalooza in Obamas homestate of Illinois.
