After breaking out the early Phish number Alumni Blues in Boston Thursday, Trey Anastasio and an expanded version of his band closed out the year with a performance at Albanys Palace Theatre and two shows at Atlantic Citys House of Blues. At the Palace, Anastasio looked to his past once again, dusting off a cover of Frank Zappas Peaches En Regalia. In Atlantic City, the guitarist offered an encore rendition of Alumni Blues on December 30 and referenced his recent arrest for a second time on December 31 by offering an acoustic version of Makisupa Policeman (he then closed things out with a solo performance of ‘Sample In A Jar’). Anastasios three-set New Years Eve show also included a percussion parade leading out of Last Tube and another reading of Peaches En Regalia. As the ball dropped, the guitarist segued from Mr. Completely into the traditional Auld Lang Syne, before debuting a take on Michael Jacksons Wanna Be Startin Somethin.
