The String Cheese Incident performed a late night show as part of Vegoose on Sunday evening at the Orleans Arena. The night opened as the band charged into Hey Hey We’re the Monkeys, as part of the theme it had selected for the evening: The Jungle. The stage was decked out appropriately and String Cheese enlisted a number of acrobats to swing on vines and supplement the action. As for other fitting music, along with the opening tune, SCI also delivered covers of Jungle Boogie (Kool & The Gang) and Concrete Jungle (Bob Marley). In addition, the band closed out set one with a passage that began with its own Las Vegas, moved into a cover of Guns N’ Roses Welcome to the Jungle on into Drumz then into a jam and finally back into Welcome to the Jungle.
On Saturday during the festival proper, SCI teamed up with Keller Williams for another of the infrequent performances by the Keller Williams Incident. The groups set included a cover of the Wood Brothers song Luckiest Man. This song selection was no doubt appreciated by Chris Wood, who was on site that day performing a set with Medeski Martin & Wood along with their special guest Maceo Parker.
