Karl Densons Tiny Universe is taking a brief hiatus while its namesake clocks in time with the Greyboy Allstars and bassist Ron Johnson hits the road with The Chris Barry Band. In the meantime, the rest of the Tiny Universe has formed the new electronica outfit Blue Sirkut and is working on the third Tiny Universe studio disc. Denson has also picked up a few gigs with ‘KD3,’ a jazz trio featuring keyboardist Anthony Smith (Global Funk Council, Giant People) and drummer Brett Sander (KDTU drummer John Statens older brother). Beginning tonight, KD3 will host a Wednesday night June residency at San Diego, CAs Winston’s Beach Club, later making stops in cities across the country.
