Trey Anastasio will open for Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers this summer. The former Phish guitarist will open eight shows on Pettys extended summer tour, including dates in Charlotte, NC (6/9), Bristow, VA (6/10), Portsmouth, VA (6/12), Columbus, OH (6/14), St. Louis, MO (6/17), New York, NY (6/20), Mansfield, MA (6/21) and Indianapolis, IN (6/23). Anastasio is one of many high-profile opening acts scheduled to open for Petty throughout the summer months including Pearl Jam, John Mayer and the Allman Brothers Band. Petty his hinted in the press that his summer tour will likely be his last national amphitheater tour, though he intends to continue performing.
