The Dark Star Orchestra is in the midst of its winter tour , with keyboardist Dan Klepinger serving as the latest fill-in for the late Scott Larned. On February 17 and 18, the lauded Grateful Dead cover band will also continue its ongoing dialogue with the remaining members of the Grateful Dead, collaborating with Donna Jean Godchaux-MacKay at Atlantas Variety Playhouse Theater. Godchaux-MacKay has joined the Dark Star Orchestra onstage on several occasions, including its recreation of the Grateful Deads famed Cornell 77 performance. In addition, Donnas son, Zion Rock Godchaux, and his project, Boombox, will open both nights of Dark Star Orchestras Atlanta run, ensuring at least one cross-generational sit-in. Dark Star Orchestra will perform tomorrow at Greensboro, NC’s Carolina Theatre.
