The Slip closed out 2005 with a successful three-night jaunt through the Northeast with rising scene favorites Apollo Sunshine. The paired performers began their tour in Providence, RI on December 28, before, err, slipping south to Brooklyns Southpaw on December 30. During this performance, The Slip welcomed members of Apollo Sunshine to the stage for Cowboy Up, before heading back to New England for a New Years Eve performance at Northampton, MAs Pearl Street. During Apollo Sunshines opening set, Slip drummer Andrew Barr joined the group onstage, later inviting out all of Apollo Sunshine during his set for another rendition of Cowboy Up, which culminated in the smashing of 4 pis that wrote out 2006. The two groups then began 2006 together with a cover of the Rolling Stones ‘You Can’t Always Get What You Want.’ The Slips New Years Eve performance also featured bassist Marc Friedman taking on a fan, Viva, in The Slip’s song Even Rats in PS2’s game Guitar Hero, which was projected on stage. Friedman proved victorious and The Slip closed the night with oldie, but goody ‘Honey Melon’ which included teases of the Whos Baba O’Reilly.
