Lou Reed, Charlie Hunter and Rob Wasserman are among the latest additions to Central Park SummerStages September 28 Soul to Soul Katrina relief benefit. These artists join a growing cast which already includes Cassandra Wilson, Allen Toussaint, Ivan Neville, Dr. John, Angelique Kidjo, Corey Glover, Hubert Sumlin, DJ Logic, Dar Williams, Drive-By Truckers, J Mascis and Bette Lavette, with other surprise guests anticipated as well. Soulive will serve as the house band for the benefit which is being produced by Jammys Executive Producer Pete Shapiro. Nodding to the evenings collaborative structure Shapiro promises the evening will evoke the spirit of the Jammys and the Wetlands. While the show is free, Central Park SummerStage suggests a donation of $25. Relix Magazine is a media sponsor for this multi-band event which will close out SummerStage’s 20th anniversary season.
