Last weekend Telluride played host to its 12th annual Blues & Brews Festival. In addition to performances by blues-based acts like Eddie Turner, The Black Crowes, MOFRO, Alvin Youngblood Hart and Susan Tedeschi, while offering over 50 microbrews, the multi-day gathering also raised $25,000 in donations to aid the victims of hurricane Katrina. These funds will be split between the American Red Cross and the Backbeat Fund, a non-profit organization dedicated to preserving New Orleans’ urban society. In the sit-in department Joan Osborne took center stage, joining Al Green for ‘Can You Mend a Broken Heart.’
